The new story card

When using Scrum Mate, we spend most of our time reading and editing information on story cards. In the last few months, we’ve been focusing on the research and development of a brand-new version of the card to make it more powerful and comfortable. In fact, we built the new card up from scratch.

The new story card is already ready to use, and you can try it right now if you want to check it.

Here are the most important changes
  • New, more intuitive placement of story attribute fields
  • Inline task card — the task now opens inside the story card
  • Reply to comments
  • Add attachments and emojis to comments
  • Improved attachment icons to provide additional information about the attachment type
  • An aggregated view of all attachments on a story card
  • Easily add a due date to a task without opening the task card
  • Preserve the initial estimation of time estimates

The new story card is ready for the dark mode, which will arrive in March.

New layout

To make the story card layout more intuitive, we removed the sticky button bar from the bottom of the card and placed the attribute buttons to the same position where the attribute values appear. Also, we repositioned the due date value to a more prominent position, to the top-right area of the card.

Open tasks inside the story card

When you open a task, it will expand within the story card. This setup allows us to open and browse many tasks at once within a story.

Reply to comments, attach documents, add emojis

You can now quickly reply to a comment and mention the author of the original message. Attach documents and URLs, and add emojis to comments.

An aggregated view of all attachments, more informative icons

It becomes be much easier to find an attachment on a story card. The attachment section can now show you all attachments in one place on the card, even if they were added to a comment or a task. Click the “Show attachments on tasks” label to expand the list of all the attachments on all tasks in the story.

Attachments got new icons to provide more visual information about attachment types.

Initial time estimation

You can now recall the first time estimation of a card even if you regularly update the remaining work of a story or a task.

When you enter a time estimation for a story or a task, Scrum Mate will set it as the card's remaining work and save it as an ‘Initial estimation.’

You can update the estimated remaining work of the card regularly without modifying the initial estimation value. You can also modify the initial estimation if you want.

Add due date to a task easily

You can add a due date to a new task quickly, right from the task input fields, without opening the task card.
