Segment the backlog with dividers

Back to backlog articles

Managing large backlogs quickly becomes demanding for product owners. Dividers in Scrum Mate make it easier to segment the backlog into manageable chunks. Dividers can also provide a great help in planning sprints and releases. You can use divider in the Backlog section of the project backlog.

Overview of dividers

Dividers are simple separators between backlog items. The beauty of dividers is that they are very lightweight. You can move dividers within the backlog via drag & drop just like you do with user stories.

On dividers, you can read the sum of the user story estimations above the divider, until the upper divider. This feature makes it easy to create plans for the next sprint, week, month or release.

Add new dividers

To add a divider, move the mouse pointer over a backlog item.

On the left side of the backlog, move the mouse ponter over the (+) floating button.

Click on 'Add divider' button.

Move a divider

You can move the divider across the backlog using drag & drop. Simply drag the divider and move it to the new position.

Rename a divider

To rename a divider, move your mouse pointer over the divider row, and click on the pencil icon. Type in the new name of the divider.

Delete a divider

To delete a divider, move your mouse pointer over the divider row, and click on the “…” menu, then select “Delete divider” from the popup menu.
